Education
I have a BSE in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from Arkansas State University. I have an MSE in Special Education with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities, Mild Mental Disabilities, and Emotional Disturbances from Old Dominion University.
Experience
This is my 34th year of teaching. I have taught Kindergarten and first grade at Hope Sullivan. I am currently in my 6th year returning to the Special Education classroom. I have taught in both Special Education and Elementary Education in Arkansas and Virginia.
Bio
I grew up in Olive Branch and attended school there from first to twelfth grade. I moved away for a few years but returned to Southaven in 2003. My daughter attended Southaven High School and graduated in 2021. She is currently studying to be an Occupational Therapy assistant so I'll be able to pick her brain for OT ideas. (I already had her set up the Sensory Corner in my classroom!)
I hope that this is a great year for everyone in my class and the parents as well.

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year. We are off to a great start. I am reviewing IEPs and getting to know my students. Classroom teachers have been made aware of your child's special needs.
If you have reached this page in search of services for your child, you may contact the school at 393-2919, and you will be assisted in the process to see if your child would qualify for services in special education.
Students are eligible for Special Education services for three years. At about 2.5 years, we start gathering data to determine if a child continues to be eligible for services. We have to meet before the three years are up in order for special education services to continue. You will be contacted in order to set up this meeting.
Parents may request an IEP meeting at any time. We will have to have the complete team which may include therapists who serve students at different schools so it may take a few days to set up a meeting.
