About the Teacher

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from The University of Mississippi in the top 2% of my class in May of 2015.  During this time, I won the "Griffin Family Impact Award" for having the biggest impact on my students during my student teaching experience.  It is an award that is awarded to four people from The School of Education at Ole Miss.  I have been teaching first grade for Desoto County Schools for nine years.

My classroom is a safe caring environment where students are free to make mistakes, learn from them, and grow.  Teaching is a lifelong learning process where teachers, students, and parents all learn from each other.  It takes a village to foster community based learning, and that is what I aim for daily by building relationships with my students and their families. 

Outside of work, I like to travel and spend time with my family.

For iReady, click on the clever link above.  Students are able to access several websites including iReady through Clever.   iReady is an educational website where your child takes assessments to determine which skills they need help with. Students will work on individualized skills for Reading and Math. Students are required to work on iReady 45 minutes each week for both Reading and Math. DCS uses iReady to monitor student growth throughout the year so having them practice daily helps show their success. Students are familiar with their usernames and passwords; both are their MSIS number I sent home with your child at the beginning of the school year.
